★ THE REVIEW

The short version

Linktree is still the easiest way to put several links behind one URL, and its free plan does more for your email list than its reputation suggests. You can collect emails and phone numbers on free, download them as a CSV, and on Pro sync them straight into KitAFFILIATE or beehiivAFFILIATE. Where Linktree gets expensive is selling. Its own comparison data puts the platform fee on digital products and courses at 12% on Free and 9% on Starter and Pro, and only Premium ($35/mo, or $30/mo billed annually) drops it to 0%. Add the fact that Linktree doesn't offer custom domains at all, and the picture is clear: Linktree is a strong link hub and a weak place to own a store.

If you're comparing it head to head with storefront tools, our best link-in-bio tools guide runs the fee math across eight options.

What Linktree costs

Linktree lists four self-serve plans on its pricing page, in USD:

  • Free: $0. Unlimited basic links and a sign-up form, 28 days of analytics, one featured link, Linktree branding.
  • Starter: $8/mo billed monthly, or $6/mo billed annually. Unlimited featured links and 90 days of analytics.
  • Pro: $15/mo billed monthly, or $12/mo billed annually, with a 7-day trial. Custom designs, mailing-list integrations and 365 days of analytics. Linktree marks it "Recommended."
  • Premium: $35/mo billed monthly, or $30/mo billed annually, with a 7-day trial. All-time analytics, data export, link rules and routing, social scheduling, unlimited Instagram auto-reply DMs, and the 0% fee tier.

Linktree's FAQ also says pricing varies by region and is shown in local currency, so check the page from your own location.

The fee question, and why Linktree's own pages disagree

This is the part of the Linktree decision that matters most if you sell, and it's also the least clear.

Linktree's help center separates two fees. Its transaction fee is a percentage of each sale that "varies by your Linktree plan." The processing fee is Stripe's, typically 2.9% + $0.30 per sale in the US, and applies on every plan. For Linktree Shops (commissioned affiliate products, US-only), Linktree's fee is a percentage of your commission, and the help center says Stripe charges $0.25 per payout. The pricing page FAQ attributes that $0.25 to Linktree instead.

For digital products and courses, the comparison data on the pricing page lists 12% on Free, 9% on Starter, 9% on Pro and 0% on Premium. But the Pro plan card on the same page lists "Sell and earn with 0% fees." The help center's selling guide says digital products are "available on Pro and Premium plans," which doesn't fit with the table listing fees for Free and Starter. And the Pro card says "Remove Linktree branding," while Linktree's paid-features help article says hiding the Linktree footer is a Premium feature.

Our read: plan around the comparison-table figures (9% on Pro, 0% on Premium) until Linktree makes its pages agree, and check the fee shown at checkout before you launch a product.

Example: a $29 product selling 50 times a month is $1,450 in sales. On Pro, a 9% fee is $130.50 plus the $15 subscription, $145.50 in all. On Premium, it's the $35 subscription and no platform fee. Stripe's processing (about $57 for those 50 sales) applies either way. Premium pays for itself once you sell more than about $222 a month.

Email capture and export: better than expected

Linktree's contact form collects emails and phone numbers on every plan. Its help center says "Free and paid users can download audience data as a CSV," protected by a passcode and delivered by email. On Pro and Premium, the audience integrations sync form submissions to Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Kit, beehiiv, Flodesk or Google Sheets. For Kit, Klaviyo and beehiiv, the help center says existing contacts sync too, not only new ones.

That's the right setup for the owned-audience thesis: send every sign-up to an email platform you control, so Linktree never holds your only copy. MailerLite isn't in Linktree's list of native integrations, so MailerLite users need the CSV or a workaround.

Selling: workable, with limits

Digital products and Kajabi-powered courses check out through Stripe, at prices from $1 to $10,000. Payouts go to your own Stripe account on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule you choose. The help center is direct that you're the seller of record, responsible for refunds, disputes, tax and consumer law. Paid digital products are only available in the countries Linktree lists (the US, UK, Canada, Australia, much of the EU and a few others). Linktree Shops, sponsored links and Linktree Rewards are US-only. Adult content can't use Earn features because of Stripe's restrictions.

What's missing compared with storefront-first tools: the help center doesn't document upsells, order bumps, payment plans or a built-in email broadcast tool.

EDITOR'S NOTE
"Linktree is a great place to collect an email and a costly place to collect a payment, unless you pay for Premium."

Media kit and analytics

Linktree's Media Kit is free on every plan but limited to US-based users for now. It pulls audience, performance and sales data from your Linktree and your connected Instagram, TikTok or YouTube accounts, refreshes daily over a rolling 28 days, and lives at linktr.ee/username/media-kit. Performance data only appears after 50 views in 90 days. Reordering sections and downloading a PDF need Pro or Premium.

Analytics history scales with your plan: 28 days on Free, 90 on Starter, 365 on Pro, and all-time on Premium. Instagram auto-replies are included at 1,000 DMs a month on Free, 1,500 on Starter, 2,500 on Pro, and unlimited on Premium.

What you own if you leave

Your list: yes, through the CSV or a live sync. Your customers and payments: they sit in your own Stripe account. Your URL: no. Linktree's help center says it doesn't offer custom domains to replace linktr.ee and doesn't provide domain-forwarding tools. Every QR code, printed card and old caption points at linktr.ee/yourname. If that matters to you, buy your own domain and forward it to Linktree from your registrar, so you can repoint it later.

Who should pick something else

If your bio is mainly a checkout, a flat-priced 0% plan is cheaper well before Linktree Premium makes sense: Stan Creator at $29/mo or Beacons Creator Plus at $30/mo, which adds a custom domain. If you already schedule in Later, its Link in Bio may cover the link-out job. And if you only need a few links on Instagram, Instagram now allows five links on your profile for free.

If your bio link is where brands find you, the guide to managing brand deals covers the rest of the workflow, from rate card to invoice.

Editorially reviewed by Carlos Gil. Based on Linktree's pricing page and help center, checked October 7, 2026. Linktree pays us nothing and the link to Linktree is a plain link. Links to email tools on this page (such as Kit and beehiiv) are affiliate links, labeled where they appear, and never affect the score. How we review.
