Mighty Networks is a solid home for a membership built around courses, cohorts and events, and it pays you through your own Stripe account. The catches are about money flow and moving house: payments are Stripe-only, iOS purchases lose 15% to Apple, and paying members can't be transferred in or out on a self-serve basis. What it does well
Courses are a first-class feature. On-demand and cohort courses, quizzes and tests, drip schedules, badges and certificates, and SCORM embeds are listed on every plan. That's more course depth than most community-first tools.
Your Stripe account. Mighty's docs say you connect your own Stripe account, payments land there directly, and you can manage payments, refunds and customer details in Stripe. Mighty's transaction fee is deducted in Stripe, not charged to members.
Member data is downloadable. From Launch up, you can download the member list for the whole network, a single space or each paid plan. The file includes name, email, location, join date and active subscription interval. Mighty frames it as data for your CRM or newsletter.
No member caps. Members and spaces are unlimited on every plan, and a custom domain is included.
Where it falls short
Moving paying members is manual. Mighty's docs are direct about it: you can't transfer a member's existing subscription. The recommended path is hidden plans with free trials that cover each member's remaining time, sent out as share links. Mighty's paid migration help starts on Growth.
Stripe only, managed only in Mighty. No PayPal. Mighty warns that editing plans in Stripe can delete plans and lose subscribed members. Disconnecting Stripe goes through support, and re-enabling payments needs a new Stripe account.
The iOS cut. Purchases in the Mighty iOS app go through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple takes 15%, Mighty charges no fee on those, and payouts arrive 8 to 12 weeks later. Those members' billing sits with Apple, not your Stripe account.
Tax is on you. No tax is collected on web purchases by default. You can connect Quaderno.
Pricing in practice
Launch is $79/month billed annually ($950/yr) or $95 monthly. Scale is $179 annually or $215 monthly. Growth is $354/month billed annually. Mighty Pro is quoted. Transaction fees are 2%, 1%, 0.5% and 0.5%, plus Stripe processing, which Mighty's docs put at roughly 2.5% to 5% for web purchases. Free trials run on the Growth plan and carry a 5% transaction fee.
Example (assumptions: 200 members paying $29/month on the web, US cards at Stripe's standard 2.9% + $0.30, monthly plan billing; Mighty's docs don't mention a Stripe Billing surcharge, so none is included):
- Launch: $116 Mighty fee + $228.20 Stripe + $95 = $439.20 of $5,800.
- Scale: $58 + $228.20 + $215 = $501.20.
Scale's lower fee covers its $120 higher price at about $12,000 a month in sales. Pick it earlier only if you need Kit, Zapier or the API.
Who should pick it (and who shouldn't)
Pick Mighty Networks if your offer is a learning community (cohorts, challenges, courses with quizzes) and you want it in native apps from day one. Download your member list monthly and sync new members to your own email list, for example KitAFFILIATE (affiliate link) via the Scale-plan integration.
Skip it if you sell mostly through iPhone users and can't absorb Apple's 15%, if you need PayPal, or if you're moving a large paying audience and won't pay for migration help.
