★ THE REVIEW

Klap is a web app that turns a long video or a YouTube link into vertical clips with captions and reframing, then posts them to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram or LinkedIn. You pay for the clips it generates rather than the minutes you upload. Basic costs $29 a month for 100 clips, or $14 a month billed yearly. If you want a short-form feed without managing credits, it's one of the easiest clippers to budget for. If you need export specs, legal clarity or editor round-tripping, look elsewhere.

What it does well

Simple pricing. Klap's pricing page shows three tiers by monthly clip count: 100, 300 and 1,000. Every plan includes AI clipping, unlimited social accounts and analytics. Choosing a plan comes down to how many clips you want.

Reframing for odd formats. Klap says AI Reframe 2 analyzes each scene and applies a layout such as split screen, screencast or gaming. Most podcast-first clippers handle talking heads well and treat screen recordings and gameplay as an afterthought.

Languages. The FAQ says Klap edits and transcribes in 52 languages.

Publishing. You can share and schedule clips to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn from inside Klap, and its privacy policy describes apps for ChatGPT and Claude that can act on your Klap account.

Clear data handling, at least on paper. The privacy policy (updated October 1, 2026) names its processors. RunPod hosts the transcription models, OpenRouter and OpenAI receive transcripts to choose clips and write titles, and Google's Gemini receives video that has no speech. Content stays until you delete it, plus up to 30 days in backups.

Where it falls short

There's no ongoing free plan. The FAQ says you can create one video free, with no credit card. We found no public statement of export resolution, or of whether that trial video carries a watermark.

The terms of service (last updated July 25, 2024) are short. They don't address what licence Klap takes to your content or whether it can be used for AI. The privacy policy also says that "explicit consent before data sharing with third-party AI models is not obtained", although Klap says an opt-in is in progress.

The naming isn't consistent. The FAQ says you can upgrade to "Klap Pro for just $29/month", but on the pricing page $29 a month is Basic and Pro is $79.

Pricing in practice

Prices are in USD from Klap's pricing page. Basic costs $29 monthly or $14 a month billed yearly (100 clips). Pro costs $79 monthly or $39 billed yearly (300 clips). Pro+ costs $189 monthly or $94 billed yearly (1,000 clips). The page says yearly billing saves 50%.

Example: a creator who wants 80 clips a month. Assumptions: Basic on annual billing, list price, 12 months. That's $14 x 12 = $168 a year, or about 17.5 cents per clip if all 80 are used. On monthly billing it's $29 a month, about 36 cents per clip. Klap's refund policy allows a full refund in the first month, and on annual plans only partial refunds for unused months after that.

EDITOR'S NOTE
"Pay per clip, not per minute."

Who should pick it (and who shouldn't)

Pick Klap if you want a hands-off clip feed from YouTube videos or podcasts, think in clips rather than minutes, and post to the four platforms it supports.

Skip it if you want to test it for free over weeks, need documented 4K export, finish clips in a desktop editor, or need contractual answers about AI processing for client footage.
