Carrd is the cheapest way we know of to put a link-in-bio page on a domain you own. It isn't a link-in-bio app. It's a one-page site builder, billed by the year, and that's exactly why it fits the house thesis: your domain, your email tool, your own Stripe account. The trade-off is that you assemble the selling part yourself.
What it does well
Price. Carrd's Pro plans are billed per year, not per month. Pro Lite is $9 a year, Pro Standard is $19 a year and Pro Plus is $49 a year, according to Carrd's pricing page. Nothing else in our best link-in-bio tools guide comes close on cost.
Ownership. Pro Standard publishes to any custom domain you own, with SSL through Let's Encrypt. Signup forms post straight into 20 email platforms, including KitAFFILIATE, beehiivAFFILIATE, MailerLiteAFFILIATE, ActiveCampaignAFFILIATE, Mailchimp, Ghost and Buttondown, per Carrd's signup-form docs. Your list lives in the email tool you chose, not in Carrd. Pro Plus goes further: Carrd's plan docs say you can download the unminified HTML, CSS, JS and images of any site you build (server-side code excluded). That's an unusual exit option for a bio-link page.
No sales fee that we can find. Payment-enabled forms (Pro Plus and up) put a Stripe Checkout screen in front of a form, using your own Stripe API keys. Carrd's payment docs and pricing page don't mention any Carrd fee on those payments. Stripe's own processing fees still apply.
Analytics without cookies. Pro Standard includes Carrd's native cookie-free analytics, or Google Analytics, Plausible and Matomo if you prefer.
Where it falls short
It's a builder, not a store. There's no product delivery, customer dashboard, course hosting or affiliate system. A payment form collects money and then submits the form. Getting the file to the buyer is your job, which is why most creators pair Carrd with Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy or a Stripe payment link.
Effort. Carrd gives you layout control, and you need to use it. Linktree or Beacons will produce a decent page faster.
No native creator features. There's no media kit, Instagram DM automation or brand-deal marketplace. Carrd also doesn't publish anything about built-in email sending; it hands contacts to your email tool instead.
Annual billing only. Carrd's pricing page lets you auto-renew yearly or pay as you go, but there's no monthly option.
Pricing in practice
All prices are USD per year, from Carrd's pricing page and plan docs:
- Free: up to three sites with "Made with Carrd" branding.
- Pro Lite: $9/yr. Three sites, no branding, premium (unbranded) URLs. No custom domains or forms. Larger site counts cost $14/yr (10 sites) and $29/yr (25 sites).
- Pro Standard: $19/yr. 10 sites, custom domains, forms, widgets, embeds, analytics and meta tags. Tiers run up to $599/yr for 1,000 sites.
- Pro Plus: $49/yr. 25 sites, plus custom forms that connect to Zapier, Make, n8n and Airtable, payment forms through Stripe Checkout, redirects, password protection and site downloads.
A 7-day Pro trial needs no card.
Example. Assumptions: one creator, one bio page on their own domain, a Kit signup form, no paid products. Pro Standard at $19 a year works out to about $1.58 a month, plus whatever your domain registrar charges. Selling a $29 product through a Pro Plus payment form adds no Carrd fee that we could find documented, only Stripe's processing.
Who should pick it (and who shouldn't)
Pick Carrd if you want your bio link on your own domain, feeding the email list you already run, for less than the cost of one month on most competitors. It's also a good landing page for a newsletter or a single launch.
Skip it if you want a storefront that handles delivery, upsells and customer records for you, or if you'll never touch a layout tool. You'll spend the savings in setup time.
Alternatives worth comparing
- Linktree: faster to set up and has native Kit and beehiiv sync on Pro and up, but no custom domain.
- Beacons: a bundled store, email and media kit, with 0% sales fees from Creator Plus.
- Stan: a checkout-first storefront if selling is the main job. Compare it with Kajabi in Kajabi vs Stan.
- Milkshake: a free, phone-built page if you'd rather not design anything.

- Is Carrd free?
Yes. Carrd's free plan lets you build up to three sites with "Made with Carrd" branding. Custom domains, forms and analytics need Pro Standard ($19/yr) or higher.
- How much is Carrd Pro?
Carrd's pricing page lists Pro Lite at $9/yr, Pro Standard at $19/yr and Pro Plus at $49/yr, with higher tiers for more sites. All Pro plans are billed per year.
- Can I use my own domain with Carrd?
Yes, on Pro Standard and above. Carrd publishes to any custom domain you own, with SSL via Let's Encrypt.
- Can I sell products on Carrd?
You can take payments on Pro Plus with a payment-enabled form that opens Stripe Checkout using your own Stripe API keys. Carrd doesn't deliver files or manage customers, so most creators pair it with Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy or a Stripe payment link.
- Does Carrd connect to Kit or beehiiv?
Yes. Carrd's signup forms (Pro Standard and up) send names and emails to Kit, beehiiv, MailerLite, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Ghost, Buttondown and 13 other email tools.
The cheapest way to own your bio link: your domain, your email tool, your Stripe keys, for $19 a year. You build the store yourself.
