Why creators leave Final Cut Pro.

Platform lock is the biggest one. Final Cut runs on macOS only, so the moment you switch machines, hire a Windows editor, or want to collaborate outside the Apple world, the project stops travelling with you. Should you actually switch?

If you're a solo Mac creator making long-form, staying is almost certainly right. You already own it, no subscription is accruing, and nothing on this list is faster on Apple silicon. Switching costs you speed and buys you flexibility you may never use.

The switch makes sense for one specific reason: you need to leave the Mac, or work with people who already have. In that case pick by who you work with — Resolve if the collaborators are colourists and independents, Premiere if they're agencies. Do the migration between projects, export FCPXML for the cuts, and accept that titles and effects get rebuilt.
