Ecamm Live is a Mac-only livestreaming studio app: scenes, overlays, screen sharing, a green screen and a live camera switcher, with every broadcast saved to your own drive. If you're on a Mac and want something more polished than OBS without moving into a browser tab, it's the strongest Mac-native option in our livestreaming guide. The catch is that remote guests, 4K and separate tracks are Pro features.
What it does well
It's built around the Mac. Ecamm lists support for multiple cameras, screen and system-audio capture, HDMI capture cards up to 4K, DSLR and mirrorless cameras over USB, an iPhone or iPad over USB as a camera or shared screen, NDI sources and Blackmagic DeckLink. Saved scenes let you compose layouts in advance, and Elgato Stream Deck support puts scene switching and sound effects on physical buttons.
Ownership is built in. Ecamm says every broadcast is automatically saved to your Mac, which is the right default for creators who cut clips, podcast episodes and course lessons from their streams.
Standard is a complete solo package. It removes the watermark, multistreams to 10 destinations, and includes custom overlays, picture-in-picture screen sharing, web widget overlays (Ecamm names Streamlabs and StreamElements), an in-app comment stream and the green screen. Ecamm shows comments from Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, X, Amazon Live and Twitch, and can schedule Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn broadcasts.
Pro adds Interview mode. Guests join from a web browser without Ecamm or a Mac, start in a greenroom where they're muted and hidden, and you add them to the broadcast. Ecamm's support FAQ says Apple Silicon Macs can bring on up to 10 guests and Intel Macs up to 4. Pro also adds 4K streaming, isolated audio and video recording, a virtual camera and mic for Zoom and other apps, and VIP support.
Where it falls short
It's Mac only, and requires macOS 11.2 or newer. Windows and Linux creators should look elsewhere.
The guest feature is the main reason many creators want a studio, and it's Pro-only. Standard and trial users can try Interview mode for 2 hours before upgrading.
The product page labels several features "Pro feature" in a way that's hard to map to specific items, so check the pricing page before assuming a feature is on Standard. There's no free plan beyond the 14-day trial, and trial broadcasts carry an Ecamm watermark.
Pricing in practice
Prices are in USD, checked October 10, 2026. Standard is $16 a month billed annually ($192 a year) or $20 billed monthly. Pro is $32 a month billed annually ($384 a year) or $40 billed monthly. The trial runs 14 days with no credit card, and Ecamm offers a full refund within 14 days of signing up.
Example: a Mac creator running a weekly interview show with up to three guests, annual billing, list prices on October 10, 2026, no add-ons. Ecamm Pro costs $384 a year. StreamYard Core, a browser alternative with guests, costs $431.88 a year ($35.99 x 12). Ecamm Standard at $192 a year works only if you never need remote guests.
Who should pick it (and who shouldn't)
Pick Ecamm Live if you're on a Mac, want a desktop studio with real camera and scene control, and want every show saved locally. Pro makes sense for interview shows on Apple Silicon.
Skip it if you're on Windows or Linux, if your guests are the whole show and you'd rather not pay $384 a year, or if a free tool like OBS already does what you need. What would change our view: guests on Standard.
Alternatives worth comparing
- OBS Studio: free on Mac too, with more setup and no built-in guests.
- StreamYard: a browser studio for guest shows on any computer.
- Riverside (visit RiversideAFFILIATE, affiliate): records each guest locally and has a Mac app.
- Compare all of them in our guide to the best livestreaming software for creators and StreamYard vs Restream.
