★ THE REVIEW

Artlist sells a subscription license to a stock catalog of music, sound effects, footage, video templates and LUTs, and credit-based AI generation for images, video, voiceover and music. For a creator, the license matters more than the library: what you publish while subscribed stays covered, but nothing new is covered once you stop paying, and most stock plans are billed annually.

What it does well

  • One license covers the common creator uses. Artlist's Pro license lists YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Vimeo, Twitch, commercials, broadcasting, websites and wedding videos, in formats from ads and films to podcasts and presentations. It covers client work: you can hand a finished project to a client, and the client can use and publish it.
  • Published work stays covered. According to the Artlist License, projects you create and publish during your subscription can stay up, and keep earning, in the same media after the subscription ends.
  • Clearlist for claims. Add your channels or individual YouTube videos to the Clearlist in your account, and claims from Artlist Ltd are cleared. The Pro license lets you monetize up to 3 channels per platform; the Social license allows 1.
  • Stock and AI on one plan. Max puts the full stock catalog (under a Pro license), plugins and extensions together with Artlist's AI tools (100+ models, Flows and Artlist Studio, plus Image Editor and 3D model creation from the 16,500-credit tier), with a monthly credit allowance you choose from 7,500 to 80,000 credits.
  • Rights in AI output. Artlist's Terms of Use assign you its rights in what you generate and don't restrict commercial use. The help center says you can keep using AI output after your subscription ends.
  • Editor integration. The Artlist Library extension brings music and SFX search into Premiere Pro, and Artlist lists 50+ plugins for Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve.

Where it falls short

  • Nothing new after you cancel. You can use assets in new projects, and publish them, only during a paid subscription. A video you finish but don't publish before your plan lapses isn't covered. The help center also says Artlist can end coverage for specific assets it removes over rights or legal concerns.
  • Annual billing for most stock plans. Artlist's help center says monthly billing is available only on Music & SFX Social and the AI Suite plans. Music Pro, Music & SFX Pro, Max and Max Business are billed annually.
  • License rules to read first. You can't use assets as standalone content, put Artlist music in static, loop or lyric videos (or, per the help center, playlist-style videos), make remixes or covers, or register a project containing Artlist assets in Content ID. Downloads are unlimited within "reasonable" use, which the license defines as up to 40 songs, 100 SFX, 40 templates or 100 clips a day.
  • Broadcast royalties aren't included. The license permits public performance and broadcast, but it doesn't cover royalties collected by performance rights organizations. If you or your client receive a request for those royalties, the license makes you responsible for paying them or making sure the broadcaster or platform does.
  • Company size matters. The license requires Max Business (or an Enterprise license) for agencies, broadcasters and companies with more than 50 employees, counting group companies. The pricing FAQ describes Max Business as for agencies of any size. AI-only plans are exempt from this rule.
  • Tight refund window. The Terms of Use allow a refund only if you cancel within 14 days of a purchase or renewal and haven't downloaded an asset or generated anything in that time. Plans renew automatically, and the terms ask for notice within 14 calendar days before the next billing cycle if you don't want to continue. The terms add that consumers with mandatory refund rights under local law should contact support.
  • AI fine print. Credits are deducted when you generate, even if you never download the result, and they're non-refundable. Output may not be unique. Artlist says it isn't a storage service, so download anything you want to keep. The homepage FAQ says Artlist and its partners never train AI models on your prompts, uploads or outputs; the Terms of Use say Artlist contractually prohibits most model providers from doing so, but some models or features may permit it and Artlist will identify them.
  • Plan details don't match everywhere. The pricing page's FAQ and the homepage FAQ still describe AI Professional and AI Pro Plus plans, which don't appear on the current plan cards (AI Starter, AI Core and AI Creator). The pricing FAQ lists monthly billing for Music & SFX Social, AI Voiceover, AI Starter and AI Professional, while the AI Core and AI Creator cards also show monthly prices. On Max, the 7,500- and 16,500-credit options read "Select 80,000 credits to unlock Unlimited", but the 40,000-credit option lists Unlimited on 7 models. Check the plan name, billing period and total at checkout.

Pricing in practice

Prices are in USD as shown on Artlist's pricing page on Oct 17, 2026, and exclude VAT and local taxes. The page has two tabs: Stock Catalog and AI Suite.

Stock Catalog

  • Free account ($0): watermarked songs and footage for personal preview only (the license forbids using them in projects), plus free AI generations to try the tools.
  • Music & SFX Social: $9.99/month billed annually ($119.88/yr), or $14.99 month to month. Music, stems, SFX and the Premiere Pro extension, licensed for 1 personal channel per social platform plus a podcast. No client work or paid ads.
  • Music Pro: $16.58/month billed annually ($199/yr). Music and stems with the Pro license, for creators, freelancers and companies of up to 50 people.
  • Music & SFX Pro: $24.92/month billed annually ($299/yr). Adds sound effects.
  • Max: from $39.99/month billed annually with 7,500 AI credits a month; $50.66 with 16,500, $62.99 with 40,000 and $76.99 with 80,000. The full catalog, including footage, templates and LUTs, plus plugins and the AI tools. From 40,000 credits, Max adds Unlimited generations on a set of models (7 models at 40,000, 17 at 80,000). Image Editor and 3D model creation are listed from 16,500 credits, not at 7,500.
  • Max Business: from $399/month billed annually with 180,000 credits and 7 team members, up to $789 with 1,000,000 credits. Business license, Unlimited on 23 models, legal indemnification and SOC 2 Type II.
  • Custom Business: custom quote from Artlist's sales team.

AI Suite (no stock catalog)

  • AI Starter: $19.99/month, or $11.99/month billed annually. 16,500 credits a month.
  • AI Core: $39.99/month, or $23.99/month billed annually. 40,000 credits a month; annual billing adds Unlimited generations on select models.
  • AI Creator: $69.99/month, or $41.67/month billed annually. 80,000 credits a month, with Unlimited on annual billing.

The pricing page says AI credits renew every month and that you can buy more if you run out. It doesn't say whether unused credits roll over. The page also notes that Artlist MCP usage is credit-based, even where Unlimited applies.

Example: a freelance editor who runs one YouTube channel and delivers client videos needs the Pro license, so Social is out. Music & SFX Pro covers the audio for $299 a year. Of the plans the pricing page prices, adding stock footage and templates means Max: $479.88 a year at the 7,500-credit tier (12 x $39.99). Assumptions: list prices on Oct 17, 2026, US pricing, no add-ons or taxes. A creator who only posts to their own channels pays $119.88 a year for Social on annual billing, or $179.88 a year paying $14.99 month to month.

Who should pick it (and who shouldn't)

Pick Artlist if you publish video regularly, want music and SFX (and optionally footage) cleared under one license, and will keep a subscription running while you produce. The Pro license fits freelancers and small teams doing client work; Social fits creators who only post to their own channels.

Skip it if you need to start new projects with downloaded tracks after you stop paying, if you want month-to-month billing on a Pro license, or if you work for an agency or a company with more than 50 employees and don't want Max Business pricing.
