1of10 vs ViewStats

1of10 is the better buy if you want outlier research plus AI tools that make thumbnails, titles and rough edits from the same subscription. ViewStats is the better buy if you want to watch competitors, set alerts and study packaging, and you'll design in another tool. Neither replaces YouTube Studio.

The short answer

Choose 1of10 if you want to find videos that beat their channel's average, then turn what you learn into thumbnails, titles and ideas inside the same tool. Its Basic plan starts at $15 a month billed yearly, research doesn't use credits, and the AI tools run on a shared monthly credit pool. Read our 1of10 review.

Choose ViewStats if your weekly habit is tracking a set of competitors, getting alerts when something breaks out, searching thumbnails by image or URL, and mocking up packaging before you publish. Pro is $49.99 a month, or $479.88 a year. Read our ViewStats review.

What would change this: if you need full analytics for your own channel (retention, traffic sources, revenue), neither tool is the answer; YouTube Studio is. If you run several client channels and need an API or volume licences, ViewStats Business and 1of10 Pro or Ultra are the tiers to price out, and the answer depends on seats more than features.

What each tool actually is

Both tools sell the same core idea: a view count means little until you compare it with what that channel normally gets. A 500,000-view video on a channel that averages 50,000 is a signal. The same views on a channel that averages 2 million is a flop.

1of10 started as an outlier finder and has grown into a research tool plus a set of credit-based AI tools: an AI Thumbnail Generator, an AI Title and Idea Generator, an "Optimize" tool and an AI Video Editor. Its pricing page says every plan includes the research tools and every AI tool; plans differ by credits, connected channels and team seats.

ViewStats is a YouTube analytics and research suite co-founded by MrBeast, according to its own FAQ. The free site gives you public channel stats, rankings (Top Lists), channel comparisons, a Chrome extension and an iOS app. Pro adds Outliers, Thumbnail Search, Competitors, Alerts and Collections (with an "Ideation" view for previewing title and thumbnail packaging). ViewStats doesn't advertise AI generation on Pro (more on that under credits).

Criterion by criterion

1. Outlier research

This is the job both tools are bought for, and both do it the same basic way: score each video against the channel's own baseline, then let you search by niche, topic or channel.

The difference is in the details each vendor documents. ViewStats' help center defines the score precisely: a 204x outlier has 204 times the views of that channel's last 10 videos, averaged at the time. 1of10 describes its score as performance against the channel's average and says it has scored "millions" of videos; it doesn't publish the exact baseline window on the pages we checked. 1of10 documents more filters (subscribers and language among them) and a dedicated Shorts outlier view. ViewStats documents a long vs Shorts filter.

On the free tiers, 1of10 lets you try outlier search with five results per search. ViewStats keeps Outliers behind Pro.

Our read: on research alone, the two are close. Pick on the other criteria.

2. Thumbnail and title tools

Here they split. 1of10 makes things. ViewStats helps you study things.

1of10's AI Thumbnail Generator turns a title, sketch or reference into a draft thumbnail, and the vendor says it can put your face in it. Each one costs 4 credits. Its AI Title and Idea Generator costs 8 credits a run and, per 1of10, models its suggestions on outliers in your niche. Use the face feature only with your own likeness.

ViewStats' Thumbnail Search is the more flexible research tool on paper: you can search by keyword, paste a video URL, or upload an image to find similar thumbnails, then sort by similarity, outlier score or views. Collections and the Ideation view let you save examples and preview how your title and thumbnail would look together. You still design in Canva, Photoshop or similar. Our best YouTube thumbnail tools guide covers the design side.

3. Channel analytics depth

Neither tool is a full analytics suite for your own channel, and you shouldn't buy either as one.

ViewStats shows public stats for any channel (subscribers, views, estimated revenue, rankings, view velocity, and past title or thumbnail changes) and adds competitor timelines and alerts on Pro. That makes it stronger for watching other channels. Its help center says tracking a channel can take up to 30 days to fill in history.

1of10 connects your channel (one on Free, three on Basic, unlimited on Pro) and offers "Optimize" runs on your recent videos, but it doesn't advertise a dashboard for your own retention, traffic or revenue.

For your own numbers, YouTube Studio remains the source of truth.

4. Data source: public data vs your connected channel

This matters for accuracy and for what you're handing over.

ViewStats says it uses YouTube's public API, and that its view counts can differ from YouTube Analytics because the data is gathered over several days. It is explicit that it isn't a replacement for YouTube Analytics.

1of10's privacy policy says it uses YouTube API Services for public video and channel data. If you link your YouTube account, it says it can collect channel information, video performance statistics such as views and watch time, and "analytics reports as allowed by YouTube API scopes." It also explains how to revoke that access in your Google account settings.

So 1of10 can see more of your private channel data if you connect it. ViewStats' documentation describes public data only. If you'd rather not grant a third party access to your channel's analytics, check the permission screen before you click accept, and remember you can revoke it later.

5. AI credits

1of10 is transparent about credits. Every plan gets a monthly pool shared across tools: 60 on Free, 150 on Basic, 1,000 on Pro and 3,500 on Ultra. Published costs per use are 4 credits per AI thumbnail, 8 per title or idea run, 18 per Optimize run (four packages) and 50 per edited video up to 30 minutes. Research tools never use credits.

Example (assumptions: Basic plan, 150 credits, published per-use costs, no unused credits carried over): 20 AI thumbnails (80 credits) plus 8 title runs (64 credits) uses 144 of 150 credits. One AI video edit (50 credits) would replace about 12 thumbnails.

ViewStats' Pro card doesn't mention credits, and Business is described as having "unlimited credits." The price data behind ViewStats' checkout also references a separate "Pro AI" subscription and credit top-ups, but the public pricing page doesn't offer or describe it, so we don't treat it as a plan you can buy today.

6. Price

At list price, 1of10 is cheaper to start and more expensive at the top.

  • Cheapest paid entry: 1of10 Basic at $15/mo yearly ($180) or $19 monthly, vs ViewStats Pro at $39.99/mo yearly ($479.88) or $49.99 monthly.
  • Mid tier: 1of10 Pro at $69/mo yearly ($828) or $89 monthly, vs ViewStats Pro at $49.99.
  • Top tier: 1of10 Ultra at $4,999/yr, which adds group coaching and a private community, vs ViewStats Business from $249/mo through a sales call.

Promotions: on October 8, 2026, ViewStats ran a banner offering 50% off the first billing cycle of Pro with a promo code until October 31. Its FAQ also describes a separate "50% off for life" offer that applies only while that promotion is active. Check the checkout price before you assume either. 1of10 says yearly billing saves 20% and offers a 7-day money-back guarantee.

Example (assumptions: one creator, yearly billing, list prices on October 8, 2026, no promotions): 1of10 Basic costs $180 a year and ViewStats Pro costs $479.88 a year, a $299.88 difference. Monthly billing: $228 vs $599.88 a year.

7. Who each fits

Faceless channels. 1of10 fits better. Faceless channels live and die on topic selection and packaging, and 1of10 combines outlier research with AI thumbnails and titles in one bill. Its AI Video Editor (50 credits per video up to 30 minutes) is aimed at cutting raw footage, so check it against your workflow before relying on it. ViewStats works too if you already have a designer.

Established creators. It depends on the bottleneck. If you have a design team and want to watch 10 to 20 competitors closely, ViewStats Pro's Competitors feed, Alerts and Thumbnail Search are built for that. If you write your own titles and want faster drafts, 1of10 Pro's 1,000 credits go further.

Agencies and multi-channel teams. Price out both. 1of10 Pro allows unlimited connected channels and paid seats. ViewStats Business adds volume licensing, a Business API and creator discovery, but pricing starts at $249 a month and is quoted on a call.

Who should skip both

If you mainly want keyword research, tag suggestions and in-Studio SEO help tied to your own channel, look at vidIQ or TubeBuddy instead, and see our vidIQ vs TubeBuddy comparison. If you upload fewer than two videos a month, the free tiers of either tool plus YouTube's own thumbnail test in YouTube Studio cover most of what you need. Our best tools for YouTube creators guide shows where research fits in a full stack.

Ownership and portability

Both tools are research tools, so there's little lock-in. You don't store your audience or your revenue in either. Two things to keep in mind: your saved searches, bookmarks and Collections live in the vendor's app, so keep notes you can't afford to lose somewhere you control. And if you connected your channel to 1of10, revoke access in your Google account settings when you cancel.
